[Tracy stands over Nate, wearing a bathrobe, blushing and gesturing wildly in annoyance.]
Tracy: What is WITH you? There's a beautiful woman butt-naked in the next room, and you fall ASLEEP?
Nate: So? People shower, jeeze.

[Nate is now sitting up on the bed, scratching his head tiredly]
Nate: And why would I care if YOU'RE naked anyway?
Nate: We don't get along for shit.

[Tracy raises her eyebrows]
Tracy: What makes you so sure about that?
Nate (annoyed): I don't know, every interaction we've ever had?

[Close-up on Tracy as her blush intensifies. She gives a closed-eye smile as she opens her robe]
Tracy: Wow, you really are hopeless.

[From behind, Tracy stands naked before Nate, who is stunned]
Nate: ...wait, what?

Face to Face | Page 16: Hopeless

Still not sure this isn't some sort of elaborate troll.

Face to Face Ends Soon - Big Announcement Next Week!

Hopefully you've enjoyed this look back at the origins of Nate and Tracy's enemies-to-lovers-to-enemies-to-? relationship so far. Since it had been a while since I'd done comics regularly, I wanted to tackle a shorter form story to get me back into the groove. There's a lot more to come, and you'll find out about it next week!

  1. “After seeing me you’re gonna need a cold shower”
“Did you use all the hot water?”
    “Dangit!”

  2. Lady, you are obnoxious, irritating, and a coworker. I just watched you set up another coworker to get FIRED and probably ARRESTED to promote your career. That he deserved it is beside the point. You are ruthless on a level I just do not want to contemplate. I don’t care HOW nice a body you’ve got under that robe, NO! NO! NOT GOING THERE! I REFUSE TO STICK IT INTO THE CRAZY!

  3. Oh wow!! Apparently I have had a black hole in my brain for a decade. Saw this strip on FB and it felt oddly familiar. The name of the strip certainly rang a bell.

When I read the current run it felt even more familiar – The art style at least.

When I checked the ARCHIVE it hit me. Bam!

I remember reading the whole original run of the comic way back when it actually happened, waiting for strips every werk for years and being miffed when the comic finally ended.

Thanks for bringing it back – and for showing me I had a huge hole in my head.

Good to see the comic has revivified itself! I remember Rose being my favourite though. 😊

    1. I’m so glad you were able to find it again!

If you like Rose, I think you’re going to be happy to see what’s coming 👀

  4. An effective retort, indeed! Her logic is difficult to dispute.

    1. Difficult? Yes.
      Impossible? No.

  5. Where’s the old comics? The link on the about page to “the OG site” just leads back here.

    1. Thanks for letting me know! I’ve fixed it. You can read them at https://og.treadingground.com or by clicking “Older Comics” on the nav bar here.

  6. A couple of counter-points.
